In New Orleans, the area hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina, has come up with a housing solutions for houses blown away by hurricanes, or hit by tornados. This box house has solar panels on its roof so it can be powered without the regular electric grid. It can be shipped in pieces, and is environmentally friendly. These houses are meant to be shipped in after a disaster then left as permanent housing that can withstand future disasters. I think these houses are a great idea. I think the government should make a project out of them to try and make them readily available for poorer nations that are under the pressures of natural disasters.
I agree, I think these houses are an excellent idea; if they withstand what they say they will. I do agree that the government should be putting these houses into poorer nations, but when I think of these houses I think cost. I believe few areas will be fortunate enough to have these houses because of their expensive environmentally friendly material and solar panels. The helpful things are always expensive... how ironic.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sarah and Brenna, this would be very useful for poor nations. I think that they should somehow lower the cost so that people around the world, weather they live in a natural disaster area or not, can all have housing that can just be assembled. I agree with Sarah, helpful things are always expensive, so are they really that helpful.
ReplyDeleteThe government should be in charge of putting the houses up, without a single cost to the people living in them. If you just lost your home, or live in a poor nation, chances are you will not be able to afford this energy efficient, disaster-withstanding house. It's not your fault you lose your house, so the government should understand that and pay full cost. I think these are a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI think these houses are a brilliant idea, and should be promoted world wide, and not just to people who have survived a disaster. Governments should put these houses in poorer countries who cannot afford energy like this, or a home that will withstand natural disasters, and it should be free to the people. Everybody deserves a bed in a safe house.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emma. I am really impressed that they have come up with something like this, and I think that they should be government-supplied. The people who have lost their homes and belongings should be given top priority for these houses, as well as people living in higher-danger areas. It should be the government's job to provide safety for their people.
