Week 5: Tornado alerts follow flooding in southern states

Meteorologists are predicting tornados in Mississippi and Louisiana after storms left a foot of water in Louisiana. Flash floods occurred in Eastern Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana among other southern states. Meteorologist Chris Dolce says " a significant flood threat is unfolding across the south-central states". Motorists are told not to drive on flooded streets for 2/3 of flood related deaths occur in vehicles. Bridges, roadways, and campgrounds have been closed across the central southern states. In Oklahoma, thunder was registering on the seismic scale. The northern states and Canada have recorded higher temperatures. I think that this warm weather is going to cause a lot more natural disasters this year, as already shown in the central-southern states.

  1. The weather is becoming increasingly difficult to predict and understand. Here in Leamington we are facing disturbingly warm weather in a time when winter should be in full force. Although this weather is rare it is welcome whereas in many other places peoples homes are facing destruction due to the weather. Hopefully the people in Mississippi and Louisiana will be able to prepare for for the oncoming tornados and reduce the amount of devastation that is going to occur.

  2. I agree with both of you, the weather is becoming very random and it is hard to know what kind of weather will be coming. I think the world is in for a lot of weird weather patterns this year, and I suspect more hurricanes and tornadoes this year.

  3. I think we can all agree that warm weather is causing all these disasters around the world. After our very hot summer and basically snow-less winter, people are starting to realize how bad things are getting. These crazy weather patterns are causing tornadoes and flooding and other problems that people cannot predict. Humans caused this problem, and it's up to them to fix it now.

  4. While many people here in Leamington and around this area love the warmer weather (excluding me), I think a lot of people don't realize the impact that it has on other places with disasters like giant floods, tornadoes, and more severe storms. I think that things are in full swing and there's nothing we can do to stop it, at least not this year, but we can be there to help clean up the mess and help people after the disasters hit.

  5. That is really scary, considering how off the weather has been lately, especially around here. The insane weather that is going around must mean something is up, and we should all be concerned. Around here even, with our snow-less winter makes me wonder if we should be worried about what to expect this summer?
